Ciemas Village, Undiscover Jewel of Sukabumi

What’s in Ciemas Village?
Ciemas village is part of Ciwaru, Sukabumi district. This small village is hidden in a valley which is the most low-lying area in Sukabumi. Bordered by Ciletuh beach and hills surrounding create a stunning scenery of the village. Waterfalls leans on the hills, yellowing paddy fields on the foothills, the calming sound sound of waves in the beach. We can also enjoy Cimarinjung waterfalls, the paddy fields from the beach. Ciemas also known as a producer of mangoes. When the season comes, many of traders comes to this village.There's also Mandra island and Kunti island which we didn't explore yet due the bad weather.

Estimate Time
From Jakarta will takes around 8-10 hours by car or motorcycle with 30 minutes rest and depend on the traffic at Bogor to Cibadak area.
Public transportation could be more than 12 hours.

Transportation
Using car is better so we can enjoy incredible view a long the way. Route we use is Jakarta-Bogor-Cibadak-Citarik-Pal Tilu-Tamanjaya-Ciwaru.
There's also public transportation, a mini bus or ELF/van, from Pelabuhan Ratu terminal to Ciwaru. Latest departure from both Pelabuhan Ratu and Ciwaru at 2 pm. It will cost you around 25K rupiah.

Foods
There's Superindo mini mart and small hawkers at Ciwaru, but not in Ciemas. They only have small groceries stores for the villagers. Better to stock up bread, biscuit, instant noodle and minerals water from Ciwaru.

Place to Stay
There's a house for rent at minimal condition (matras and bathroom) and 4 rooms for 300K rupiah per nite. Contact person Iwan - 0856.0311.7201.

Important
1. Phone receiver is minimal, sometimes lost it signals.
2. No ATM or restourants.
3. No transportation to go around the village. No bicycle or motor rental. You could be on foot for some waterfalls, but for the beach, it is quite far (around 4 KM). Best is bring your motor or bicycle or car.

Situ Gunung - Sukabumi


What’s Situ Gunung?
Situ Gunung is an artificial lake located in the village Cisaat, Kadu Dampit District, Sukabumi - West Java. The history starts of a fugitive on the Dutch colonial period named Jalun who fled with his wife between Banten to Cirebon area. When they are arrive in the area of mountain ​​Gede-Pangrango, they finally settled there. Around the year of 1814 when his son was born, Jalun make a lake as a thanksgiving for the birth of his son.
About 2.5 miles from Situ Gunung, there is a waterfall called Curug Sawer. To get to the waterfall, there are two roads. First, is trekking from Situ Gunung to the forests which of course fun or to hire a motorcycle taxi (ojek) from the gate Curug Sawer. Keep in mind that the Curug Sawer and Situ Gunung have a different gate.

Estimate Time
Both places can be enjoyed in a day trip. While traveling from Jakarta to Sukabumi between 4-5 hours by car.

Transportation
Public transportation can be used in two ways.
By bus : from terminal Kampung Rambutan you can takes bus Jakarta-Sukabumi, then ask to drop you at Cisaat, and you can take a small red minivan called angkot to Situ Gunung.
By train : train or comuter from any train station to Bogor train station, then take angkot to teminal Baranangsiang - change to an ELF directed to Sukabumi-Bogor, then ask to drop you at Cisaat, and you can take angkot to Situ Gunung.

Foods
At Situ Gunung there's no foods selling in the area. You better bring the foods and water with you. But at Curug Sawer there're hawkers whos sell foods and water. Limited only instant noodle, coffee and water.

Place to Stay
At villages near Situ Gunung there're some villas for rent. There's also a camping ground.

Important
Best view in Situ Gunung is early morning, when the place is still foggy and the sun just come out behind the hills in golden rays.
